Hey Guys,

First I want to offer an apology to anyone who was mislead by my original statement. When I said, "I found a car," in my for sale ad, I did not mean another muscle car. This is a different story however it shares a similar theme to our familiar muscle car hunt stories, so I thought I would share.

In the March of 1987 we bought a 1987 BMW 528e from a BMW dealer in Greenwich, CT. Shortly after driving the car, I became a big fan on BMW cars and we have had a host of BMW's ranging from full size sedans to sport coupes (always keeping the original 5 Series). After 207,000 miles and 18 years as a daily driver, mold and rust ate away the remains of my old Cortez Silver /Black 1987 BMW. I let it go on eBay for $250. The man who bought it was restoring an '88 (near all the parts are interchangeable). Like any muscle car in the garage for 18 years, this BMW became a part of the family with many happy memories. I had great remorse for selling it and quickly started searching for a replacement.

I searched high and low, in and out, online, off line, newspapers and by word of mouth. I finally found a car that suited my purposes perfectly. The late '80's 5 Series is a great beater and with minimal service they can last well into the 200,000 mile range. In other words, finding a low mile car is near impossible.

Last week I became the proud owner of 1985 BMW 528e. Its GM paint code "78" Maroon with a standard black interior. It is loaded with a/c, cd player, car phone, 5 spd manual and a sun roof. Someone painted the car however, there is not an ounce of rust throughout. The clincher, she has a smooth 56,000 original miles.

Just thought I would share a clean, low mile car with the community. Its been a great hunt, and with a nice mechanical tune up and minimal parts, this BMW will serve the family like our original 5 Series did.

Try not to laugh at the inline six - 150 hp motor... it does have a posi diff...

Anyone else into BMW's? I would love to share pictures.

Thanks,
-Dan
