Default Re: 62 Belair bubble top 409

Turblou,
Some comments. First, power steering would not be incorrect on a '62 409, regardless of body style.
How many were originally made? A hell of a lot less than exist today.
Just because you've found a red/red one, don't think it must be a match to another known one. Most of them today are red/red.
And if it has a Z-11 top half on it, you should immediately add $25K to it's value, even though Chevrolet factory produced ZERO of them in '62.
If you care whether it's real or not before you empty your pockets, ask for paper work or photos BEFORE restoration. Unfortunately, where '62 409s are concerned, if it doesn't have it's original block with original VIN and broach marks, there is absolutely NOTHING on a fully restored one to verify it's legit. You'd need a build sheet, original paperwork, or pre-restoration photos. So, if it's already something it never was, saving it from a 5-speed isn't necessarily such a noble cause.
Just trying to calm you down a little and give you a few things to think about before you make a move you might regret later. Make sure you know what you really want, and what you're willing to pay for what you think you're really getting.

Verne.
