This might be a former dealer-sponsored drag car. Several Ford dealers campaigned '68 CJ 'Stangs and Al Joniec won SS/E at the '68 Winternationals in his CJ. Here's a pic of the Tasca Ford CJ. Note NHRA chief starter Buster Couch (without hat) standing beyond the car.
Ah, and just look at the skinny Cragars. The fronts almost look like 6-inchers on the restored car.  x 100
