This fellow did a green 68 Z/28 i sold a couple of years ago. He works from pictures of the car. He included some old drag race photos and a current photo for the basis of the art work. I am very pleased with the work. He does exactly what you want, takes some time to do, but well worth it in my opinion. But judge for yourself.
