Tom,
I submitted a package of info including a cover letter, racing history, pictures, and an article written by Don about Daytona 24hr race. They said letters of recommendation carry a lot of weight. I didn't have any but found some great articles written by well known Corvette racers and submitted them. Just the report that I put together should be enough but additional info would not hurt.
