I recently read a good article on the ZL-1 COPO's that stated Fred Gibb still had a new ZL-1 left in 1972, sold it, then repossessed it in '73. Also stated many of the cars had their motors sold from them to racers, then the cars were sold with replacement engines to facilitate their sale. That helps explain why so many engines and cars survived, but few remained together. I can't remember where I saw it online, but I'm sure someone here can pipe in with its location.
