I'm not sure if they were painted differently, I wouldn't think so because I believe that is the reason for the wheel code change from YA to AO. If you get a chance, check the dates on the wheels, maybe they're super early AO's, or YA's. Don ordered the Deuce wheels directly from kelsey hayes/motorwheel, and not from GM - hence the magnum 500 inserts on the centercaps under the 'Y's. All of the Deuce wheels are dated from approx. 4/18-4/25 of '70, so we have some good info that by that date the inserts were consistently black.
