Beats me how you're getting those strange characters following the address.

When you compose a message, you can make an address (or link) "clickable" by prefixing it with and immediately following it with , with no intervening spaces or Enter's. You don't even need to type the http:// part.

You can get assistance while composing or replying to a topic by clicking on the "UBB Code is ON" link to the left of the text box. It'll explain everything.
