Default NOx 1970’s emission control system

How many remember these silly devices from the late 60’s thru the 70’s.

Here is an NOS unit in the box with instructions.
I saw many of these out here in California in the late 70’s and 80’s.
The creation of the “California Air Resources Board” (CARB) in 1967.

Supposedly they allowed your vehicle to pass the early design smog test.
Actually all they did was make your car run like crap and burn more fuel.
Needless to say once you passed the smog test you simply disconnected this silly thing, set your car the way it likes until next time.
