I removed the tank sticker off my 1969 427 corvette in 1994. Mine was pretty rough. However the important info was intact. I took a bunch of pictures. Then carefully removed as best i could. A good portion just crumbled to the touch. If you are planning on replacing the tank, I would cut the metal around the sticker and keep it attached. If not replacing the tank, leave it attached and in place. I'm sure the car will be kept in a garage going forward so no worries about the sticker being damaged further. Again, Lots of pictures.
