On Corvettes I believe they had a separate gang set up for each build code. A Tonnawanda built 390, 400, and 435 built on the same day could have different type numbers. For example I collect 390 horse stamps built on May 3rd, 1967 (T0503IL) because I have a car with an unusual stamp from that day. A T0503JE or T0503JC stamp may use slightly different 0's, 3's or 5's.
