This is a real deal Chevrolet 302 shortblock. This engine was bought over the counter in 1977 along with a set of 340292 turbo heads that were ported by Crane. This was the top dog setup back in the day. This was purchased as a complete engine at an estate sale knowing only that the engine had 292 turbo heads on it. It was quite a surprise to find out it was a 302.
The block is casting number 3970010 with a casting date that looks to be A 24 6(hard to make out as shown). The pad is stamped CE7N26874. The block is standard bore with no ridge at the tops of the cylinders. Crosshatching can still be seen in all cylinders. The small amount of carbon on the piston blows off with compressed air. This shortblock has not seen much use. The engine looks to be all original as shown. The pistons have the GM part number 3927172 forged into the backside. The rods are the original high performance "Pink" connecting rods. The crank is a factory forged "1178" version which is specific to the large journal 302 engine. I am sure the crank is standard size on the rods and mains as I see no evidence of this shortblock being apart. I will be happy to pull a rod and main cap if the buyer wants me to before shipping. SOLD Thanks, Jason Last edited by SuperNovaSS; 02-09-2019 at 03:18 PM. |
