Default ECL codes

ECL Exception Control Letters. ECL codes are determined by the other options or family of options installed in the car. For G80 the ECL code will determine the axle ratio. For M20 and any other transmission the ECL codes may tell you what engine combination you have. Power steering N40 will change based on engine codes, number of pulleys, etc. There are various groups researching the ECL codes for particular models but there are so many triggering factors it's almost impossible. On a good note those researchers will not release the information on ECL's as this is one sure way to determine reproductions. There are a multitude of explanations and opinions on ECL codes if you google, some correct some just guesses. To my knowledge, there has been one book published that explains the ECL codes for C2 corvettes by Nolan Adams.
