I had a Flow master crossover muffler on a 1970 L78 Nova with the tips that ended at the quarter panels. I really liked the sound but I did not like the way the 2.5" pipes came out straight out of muffler then bent back to the back of the car. It limited the amount of wheel and tire back spacing I could put in the rear fenders.
