Turbo, you said you didn't want to "lose" the original 12 bolt, correct? So are you getting another rear for the car? IF you are, I would just get a 9" or Dana. BUT if your stuck on a 12 bolt, there are plenty of makers to use. BUT make sure you tell them it for a STREETCAR that will see SOME strip time.
In my '69 Nova, I've been running the stock 12 and axles for a while. Bet you I have 150 hits on them as we speak. BUT mine is a 550Hp, M21/'glide with brake deal that ALWAYS has 9" slick on the car. With the 4 speed, I put the front wheels about 26" in the air. Car run 10.40's N/a and there is some spray, but never off the line. Just some food for thought.
