hello
yes i think this block is salvagable, the hole for the cowl hood i have is just above the fuse box, the hood is stamped 42, i never even knew it was there, i was talking to doug perry and he said while i was on my phone, to look for it, i said i cant see it, theres to much insulation in the way, immediatly he said no no no, look outside in the engine compartment, just above where the wires go into the firwall, i looked and there it was, then with him on the phone i went to the storage place and yanked out some wires from a drawer in storage. here they are i said, he said do they have a fat grommet on them, i said yes about the size of a nickel. congratulations again he said, then he asked where did you get those wires, i said, i took them off of the car when i was a kid, they didnt go to anything, the engine side is only about 12" long but the fuse side is all there. i told him they go to something now i said hhaaa hhhaaaaa. doug is really nice, i had him on the phone for about 2-3 hours, we went from the block to the tranny to the rear diff and marks on the car to hold off valves to a valve under the drivers seat on the frame to a fuel line to brackets to alternators to starters and on and on we went, i lost his call 3-4 times whenever i went under the car, "he said you must have alot of metal still in that car, you lose signal everytime you get under it dont ya" i told him ive had it since it had 38000 on it and it now has 42 or 46000 im not sure. its a neat storie, my best friend dave and I talked about these cars forever when he was alive. doug also said "when ever you want to sell that car...... "call me" i asked if i could call besides selling the car he said well yes you can. he's a cool cat. have a great day thanks for asking about the cowl hood wires. |
