If both cars were 68's what's w/ the 'J' code story?.
Perhaps he's going from memory only or referring to something else as two digit 396 suffixes that start w/ J were 1969 engines including L35, L34 & L78...the '69 L89 being JJ..  The condition of the car sounds good and it'd be great to see more detail pics!.
