i have a distributor thats been laying around in the garage and i decided to try and decode the numbers on it.

1111170 6g28 the part number comes up as a 67-68 396/375 all the sites i have been to have only listed dates from 7 and up. i guess its a late 66 piece? any way to tell what it came out of? its complete and functional including the origional vac advance canister. any idea what its worth? thanks in advance! ![]()

			Probably from a L78 Chevelle...

I know that most 170's dated for a Camaro will bring $1200-1500 easy... Don't know if a Chevelle one is as or more valuable.

These were assembled in multiple batches and some way in advance of the anticipated engine/vehicles they were intended for.Your date of 1966,July,28th day seems typical to me for a 1967 model year vehicle which began production in Aug./Sept.1966.

With that date,it most likely would've been used in a 1967: *427/385HP Passenger *396/375HP Camaro *396/375HP & 350HP Chevelle ..and for any above assembled in Canada too. I would just wipe it down gently for now as it can always be restored later. Let the new buyer restore it if they want/need to,so they'll have that satisfaction of knowing how & who did it. |
