I ran into one of the heirs of the Sun (Chevrolet among other brands)fortune (son of Sun) at Pavillions a few weeks back. Old man Sun passed a few years back and the boy lives out here now. He was looking to buy a B. Veyron in the near future. Is that one of them new Chevys? Sun did do some racing in the Pgh area.

I believe the original McMurray Yenko Chevrolet dealership that was built in the early 70's later became Sun Chevrolet, and still is Sun Chevy today. The Honda dealership moved to an all new location when Yenko lost the Chevrolet franchise and became solely a Honda dealer.

Ah, I see. Any knowledge as to why Yenko lost the Chev. franchise?

			I've heard stories/rumors from ex-employees, but I really don't know what's fact vs. fiction.

I see. I wasn't sure if a quota was required, or if selling competing marques was an issue, or....

I did hear that GM didn't like the idea of Yenko selling Hondas and Chevys under the same roof, but once again, i don't know if that's fact...

In 1980/81 Yenko was having problems with his financial reports that Chevy main office required. Don’t know if there were actual financial problems or if it was just record keeping not keeping pace with moderation but at one point Chevy sent in there own people. I have some of the Chevy FACTS computer review printouts that have lists of the missing items. |
