Default Factory pack lacquer

Looking for pints or quarts of NOS R-M, Ditzler or DuPont acrylic lacquer. MUST BE FACTORY PACK COLORS. Any make automobile, any colors. i would buy a quantity. Check your local paint distributors, this stuff is sitting around, virtually sellproof, they would likely be thrilled to sell it reasonable. Thank You, George Lyons

I have 1 pint of white and 3 pints of burgundy PPG Duracryl Acrylic Lacquer that I got mixed at my Dupont distributor in my area along with 2 gallons of acrylic lacquer thinner. I got this mixed to paint a hood and some other touch-up on my 69 Z, but never used it, I am having the whole car painted in BC/CC and I would like to sell the lacquer. As you well know, it is getting hard to get lacquer anymore.

PPG/Duracryl still makes Lacquer. The local store that I go to has it.

[/ QUOTE ] I saw he had another post under wanted. I didn't see that one until later. What is the difference between the mixed and the factory pack? Is it the quality of lacquer or is it because it was from the factory?

OK, more detail, Factory Pack was paint factory mixed colors in pts & qts only with printed labels showing application by yr, make, model and color code. All paint/body supply stores stocked this stuff for all domestic cars built in the late 50s, 60s and 70's. It went away as color match got inconsistent and lacquer started dieing off. Many paint stores just unshelved this stuff eventually and stuck it away or threw it out. It went from being the top selling paint product (and factory pack was always first pick for a good match) to being sellproof. I saw a dumpster being filled with unopened cans of this paint around 1990. (enviormentally friendly disposal was not even an issue) The stuff is out there in back rooms, besements, etc........I just need guys to check locally with their old jobbers, not the NAPA store, but the old time places that still exist in every town. I'm your buyer.

George, I know my "cousin by marriage" cleaned out the local paint store because his brother works there. He has the R+M in gallons that they basically gave to him for nothing, but I know the factory packs have been long gone from that store. He told me so. So, that is why I posted about the R+M lacquer. I know lacquer is a bitch, for better words, to do. I have never done a full on job, but my cousin has all this laying around with the scale and recipes. I know I'm not VOC compliant but I'm not a body shop, just a hobbiest. I will give him a call and ask him if he knows anyone who has some if you want?
