Anything coming into Canada valued at less than $50 is Duty free.. The only way I've found to take advantage of this and avoid broker fees also taxes is to always ship via regular Postal mail.. Also make sure to tell the shipper to note only the value of the item itself (not w/ shipping etc) on the little sticker that goes on the outside of the package..

I think they have changed things since the spring Andy or at least thay have for me in Nova Scotia. I get a few items a week from the US and there is no way I can find any more to get around getting hit with the brokerage fees.
UPS is by far the most expensive with respect to clearing items and all packages have a 25.00 min charge. They are also the only carrier in the hundreds of items I have shipped and recieved to have lost items and more than once. Last week we had a box of sample electrical items delivered by UPS with a 5.00 value. I paid a 25.00 clearance fee plus the 14% tax on the 5.00.At one time if it was declared as a gift or sample it would come with no add ons. That changed last spring and it seems any gift over 50.00 value gets hit and you are only allowed so many gifts a year. I don't know the number but all of my gifts get hit now.
Post office is by far the best for clearance rates with a 5.00 charge but they are also the slowest to ship and the most expensive on large heavy items with a max weight that may be around 60 pounds but I am not 100% sure. They still charge us the 14% tax in nova scotia and yes 99% of the time if it is a e-bay item we pay on the shipping also since the seller includes a e-bay slip and does not seperate it out.
Now last week I got my first item through DHL the clearance was only 7.00 on a 200.00 item and they were a few dollars cheaper than ups to ship. I am going to try them for the bigger stuff.
Why do we live in this country Andy. I was born in west virginia and there are many days I wonder why DAD moved.

Did you check with your GM dealer. I bought a big block set a few years ago. You never know what they still have available. As close as your nearest dealer, and no shipping costs, just ridiculous prices on a lot of stuff.

I called the GM dealer this AM along with Chapmans. Nothing. Wouldn't you think GM and other Co could make a few bucks on GM wires again. There are alot of old cars on the road.

I called UPS for an estimate. F.Me So much for FREE TRADE.

On a 2 lb pkg 8x10
Ground service 19.38
Disbursement fees – 5.00
Customs clearance – 7.00
Plus duty - ?
Total - 31.38 without the duty.

Anyone try or hear anything about Belden wires that are warranted for life from NAPA or Champion wire sets?
