I have tried the "safestrustremover" product, after seeing the results NJSteve had with it, on iron oxide with great results. I don't think the green crud is iron oxide so I'm not sure how it might work on it. ALso, the product description says it's not an acid.

They may say that, but ask for the MSDS sheet. What's it say?
Most / all companies won't let a product in the door without a MSDS, so it shouldn't be hard to get.

I was incorrect - I have the MSDS for RidRust. Same results for removing rust.
