Okay...Bill Eaton (427TJ) flew down from Washington and is staying at my place. We went to B-J a bit later today...We met up with Ken and Paulette...Denis, Charley, Andy (quickbowtie),Bud, Mark (Late Brake U2) and Bart (47Hammer). We had a great time...though it was wet and cold. I didn't take a lot of pics...as the weather sucked. Had a great dinner with Bill, Mark and Bart... ![]() Okay...pics. Bill Eaton hanging next to Clarroll Shelby's ride ![]() [/ QUOTE ] Looking at Bill, think he knew something about that snake? Bruce, Had a blast! It was great meeting you and Bill,Denis,Budnate,Ken T.,and the rest of the SYC crew-all quality people and I mean that sincerely.Denis and Janill[sp]were gracious hosts, pavillions was amazing, and the auction was rather enlightening. A couple of thoughts from the weekend- Get there early next year for some deals(which probably everyone is thinking right now) Sell at R&S and buy at BJ..I can't see them going back to reserve-it's reality TV and would be the kiss of death for ratings. Like previously stated the good stuff brought fair value, but there was saturtation on some cars that allowed for choice(mopars and mustangs were like buses-one rolling by every fifteen minutes) LS6 Chevelles are the Rodney Dangerfield of muscle(no respect) Two out of every three 69Z's had crossrams(eat your heartbeat city out) Rain sucks, but the tent was warm. Bruce is a class act,Holly and Lynn are great, and I finally figured out what his handle meant! ![]() Can't wait for 08,i'll bring my wallet next time as it's truly the house of pain without one! ![]() |

Bill, Your right I could have stayed and talked all night after dinner, I was having a great time. It always amazes me how many people are interested in the same things, cars, motorcycles, "skycycles", airplanes and any thing that goes fast. Talking about the San Jose mile and the riders from the past was awesome too! It's always nice to put a face with the name (user ID). ![]() |

Looking at Bill, think he knew something about that snake? [/ QUOTE ] Only that it was one bad-ass and historical piece. I would have never guessed five million though. I think I told Bruce that I felt it was the star of the show and that it might get a million, maybe 1.5 million. (Just goes to show what I know about auction dynamics.) For me, seeing that car in person was just like the time I saw Abraham Lincoln's top hat, the same hat that was on his lap when he was shot in Ford's Theater in 1865, in the Smithsonian in D.C. Wow. |

So is the car really worth 5 mill? Could it have been had for alot less before the auction?, was it just BJ hype and auction energy that brought that price?. This Ron Pratt fellow seems to have money to burn, im sure he could of bought alot of his collection for alot cheaper if he stayed away from the auctions. Even the fellows who owned the Futureliner that he had bought for 4mill were only expecting about 6k (as seen on "life on the block")
