Default How do I find a car by the vin number?

I have a question about finding a Nova that my dad bought new in 1972. I have the protect-o-plate, window sticker, bill of sale, payment book, and warrenty info on the car. Is there a site that I can go to that will do a nationwide search on the vin? I did a google search but all that was coming up was car fax and its-a-lemon type sites. Is there a classic car vin finder? Would my local tag office be able to do a state search on the car since it was titled new in my current state?

Your car probably was not 'titled' in your current state when new. Georgia did not have titles until '86. I have done searches in Georgia & Alabama = futile, unless someone has gone through the work to obtain a title to the vehicle since '86.

Marlin:

I wonder why the lady at the tag office told me that Georgia started titling vehicles in 1963? I went to the tag office last week with my mom to title her 1962 Pontiac Tempest, but they said they couldn't do it because Georgia didn't start titling until 1963??

I can only go by what the GA DOT told me. Maybe they thought the Tempest was a mobile home or a crane
