Default Got it! The Z28 I wanted in high school.

Well finally, with some great help from people on this site, I got a new toy to play with. No its not a 69 or a 701/2..............its an 80
For those who have seen my previous posts, I found one that was nice.
The story- I decided to take 1 of my high $ Mopars off the table. For me, it made sense, even though i feel i will never get the return on my money that this car would have continued to appreciate. But, it ends up paying for at least 4 of my other very fun and collectible cars.
The car i sold, i listed here at one point.........1971 Plymouth cuda 440-6, shaker 4 spd, super track pack etc etc.
Very original, 26k miles and matching everything. documented with a perfect broadcast sheet.

The car i bought?
Well first let me explain that i am soon to be 40 and when I was 17 and my Volare was on its last legs, I wanted to buy a car.I had worked since the 7th grade and had saved some dough. My dad said NO. He would only buy one for me.........not a bad deal...........but it put the choice in his hands. His salesman's wife had an 80 Camaro with a V6 and an automatic and now it was mine. I loved the car, put BFGs on it, a sunroof and, a killer stereo (my Dad was the midwest rep for Pioneer ) I drove it senior year and all 4 years of college. I finnally sold it and my college acquired 71 Lemans sport convertible, to finance my 88 Mustang GT convertible when i was 23.
But..........what i really wanted when i was given the car was a 4spd Z28. Soooooooo I have taken my revenge.

With some help from Rich N.(not P) on this site and ebay I purchased a 1980 Z28. 4spd 350, 26k original miles, 80% orignal paint, all original interior and original and matching #s throughout. I would consider the car a survivor! This car has been babied its whole life. The car was ordered new in CA. however that limited you to a 305 and an automatic so the orignal owner ( I am the 3rd) had it delivered in Meford Oregon to get the the 350 and the 4 spd. I have the original order sheet and as luck would have it, while the seller was looking for a lost cell phone, he tore half of the build sheet out from under the front seats springs leaving the other half for me to retrieve

I will have bruce post a couple of shots.

Great Story... I will one day have the Camaro that I really wanted when I was in High School... 1988 IROC 1LE... I probably should go ahead and buy one... they are really inexpensive right now.

Great story... inspiring for all in search of that high school cruiser! It seems to me those late 70s-early 80s Fbodies are becoming rather popular in this crowd. I think they make wonderful cruisers and low mile original cruisers are still available ala this post. Good luck and post some pictures please!

Congrats and good luck with your dream car. I was searching for the build sheet for my sons 81 z yesterday and located it under the drivers seat. I need to remove the seat to get it out without ripping it.

Nice! All I can think of when I see a late 70's early 80's Z28 is Fast Times at Ridgemont High! "I can fix it, my dad has an awesome set of tools".
