Default Notice anything wrong here? (eBay auction)

Link

There's 2 semi-obvious issues and 2 dead give-aways.

The 2 semi-obvious issues are that it has an incorrect baseplate and the wrong float bowls on it...obviously minor issues, but there's still 2 red flags.

Josh

You're on the right track, but not quite.

The "original" 3310 is for a 1965 vehicle. A date of 453 would be the 3rd week of May 1964...a bit early for a 1965.

The second red flag has to do with the main body casting itself.

Here is a real 1965 dated 3310

Look closely, you should spot the differences quickly.

The EH prefix was originally on the passenger side of the airhorn, and it should have the smaller fuel inlet bowls,as is in Craigs auction.

Rick;

Correct. There's one other thing as well...notice the vertical casting ridge on the front corners of the choke tower in auction #1? Notice they're not there on the real `65 carb.

I posted this soleley for the purpose of trying to keep someone from getting burned, be it intentional or UNintentional. For all I know, the person selling the 1st carb could simply be mis-informed...it's happened before. (For the record, I am not accusing them of any intentional deception or anything of the sort.)

I almost hesitated to post this in the fear that publicly bringing to light some of the differences between the 2 items might make it that much easier for someone to fake the next one.

I decided that posting this would be "the lesser of two evils", so-to-speak.

I am at the end of my rope with dishonest people right now, having just been scammed myself (had nothing to do with anyone here).

I know there are people out there who will likely read this (they shall remain nameless) who won't likely appreciate me posting the above info, but I wouldn't be able to sleep at night if I'd kept quiet about this and someone got nailed on it.

I'm just trying to keep someone from getting burned. If that pisses someone off or makes me a bad guy in their eyes, then I guess I'll just have to live with that.

Eric
