! ! WARNING !! NOS sheetmetal scam
Rumor has it there is a guy in the Detroit area that is printing GM parts labels and putting them on aftermarket sheetmetal and passing it off as unboxed NOS.Still trying to find out more info.

Not cool...
Does the NOS GM stuff have any date code stamps or any other differnces...other than thinckness? or does it even have that going for it now days? GM will crush this guy if he knocking off their parts stickers... FRAUD!!!

It may be if someone is using a scanner and a printer to knock off the labels. However if someone is using a printing press and actually doing the labels right it could be very hard to discern a fake from the real thing.
The GM parts label is very easy to reproduce... it is solid colors... no screens etc. Could be done so easily with readily available inks and paperstock.

This has already been going on with lots of other "supposed" NOS parts on ebay. Within the last few months I've watched a number of items go thru as NOS when they were actually used/altered parts in NOS boxes. Two examples. Someone had a pair of NOS black arm rest pads, and the entire backside of the pad (including the bare metal that's usually sprayed with glue) was painted black. Final bid on these was $425. In another instance, a seller had a supposed NOS window crank in the box with a knob that was yellowed. The way that the knobs get yellowed is from smoke/sun exposure. When I pointed this out, he said that the crank still had fresh white grease inside, and therefore proved that it was NOS.
As prices paid for this stuff goes up, this will continue to happen more and more.

Do some nos sheet metal parts have yellow or white paint number stamps on them as well as labels
or are these fake ? thanks

My original 67 firebird hood appears to have the original part # Stencil/painted to the inside of the hood. Is this common with larger/body parts of this era or would this be a replacement part from the 70s ?
