Eric,
Would you mind posting (or PMing) the VIN and assembly date stamping from the T-10? also interested in the cast date on the side of the case. T10-1C or T10D-1?

If that rear would be a '59-'64 Olds/Pontiac, it'd be sold!
thanks
Verne

Verne,
I will get the numbers from it tonight and post tomorrow.

There is a guy in Indiana that has a bunch of the pont/olds
aluminum and mag cases. I will see if I can find his number for you.

Later,
Eric

Verne,
I checked the trans this morning before work.
The trans tag didn't match the tranny.
I must have sold the other one at the last show and mixed up the tags. I hate getting old and forgetful.

The tranny numbers are:

main case = T10-1C / dated 9-2-63 / stamped WA642
Tailhousing = dated 11-14-63
Couldn't find a VIN stamp. I will look it over better tonight.

It is also a 3-ring 2.20 gearset. Output also has twist about 3" in.

What would this trans be for?

I haven't found tim's number yet.

Thanks,
Eric

The T10-1C case was used in '61 & '62 only in production (although Pontiacs may have used it a little longer - not sure). Since it was cast in Sept '63 and assembled WA642, which is January 6th, '64, 2nd shift, I'd be inclined to think it was a service replacement, and probably without any VIN. Also, no Chevy early T-10 had an input with 3 rings. so, again, it "might" be Pontiac, or perhaps a different gear set was installed in the case at some point.

Verne,
My Dad has another all aluminum early T10.
He has one that is a T10D-1 that is dated for 63.
Code is WJ2332 no VIN either.
Tail is cast 3 of 63 and sidecover is 5 of 63.
Have to take it off engine to see rings on input.
I will let me know tomorrow.

Later,
Eric

Eric,
That T-10, assembled Sept 23rd '63 is for a '64, if it was a factory installation. By then Chevy was using Muncies.
