I guess what I am trying to determine is is that your car was assembled exactly as a L78 4-speed pacecar originally; fulfilling the order line that GM intended at the time, then your car just became the "MULE", if you will, to be the one or so to get the inside engine changes... It is obvious by the 03C timeline about the actual assembly, of course! I am always fascinated(sp) on how these cars were approached!

Protecto plate that was in the glove box. Yes it was built as a 375 hp 4 speed. Before anyone claims fake...I took the pic with a mirror so it could be read.

Charley, of these 3 cars that you have had. This 67 pace car, the #3 1969 ZL1 and the hemi head 1969 Z/28. Which is your favorite and why? Or is there a better one that you have owned?

I dunno. Probably none of those because they can't be abused on a regular basis and I like driving my stuff. My favorite has probably been my red 67 Pro touring Camaro. Ask me again tomorrow and I will probably have a different answer.

Would this be the Cortez Silver/black rally striped 69 Smokey Yunick Hemi Z, now owned by Gary Holub? I know Gary, and we have discussed his Yunick Z before.

No. Mine was a Yellow RS Z with yellow houndstooth.. Garys started life as a plain Z28 just like mine did.

Since there were only 5 Smokey Z's, I figured that this "might" be the same one.
