Default 61 Impala Hardtop

Looking for a very clean car...color unimportant ...no trailer queens just a good starting point for a tribute car...Seafoam green a plus. I have this 409 and trans laying in the garage and thought I may do a DH tribute car. He had one of these and 61's are very cool.I don't think it was lettered though.

A noble project Bob.
I'll keep my eyes open for you. The NOS trim for the car will put you in the poor house, as the repro stuff just doesn't fit right. Also, Dick's car wasn't an SS, so that will save you $$$. That 409 block isn't by any chance a 623 casting is it?

Neat project Belair. It's probably not taking the easy route though.

When I did my 61 in the late 80's it was a tough road even then for trim...but hell it's worth a shot. I've had the block so long I don't remember the casting number but the pad is stamped S 181689 TI2I7QB..if anyone owns this car by chance...lets talk. ...

Belair,
Well, it can't be a 623 with the QB (only Q in '61). If you get around to it, please forward the casting # (068, 814 or 422) along with the casting date. I keep records of as many as I can, especially those with VINs. I like to keep track of time from cast to assembly, and from assembly to production.

I'll keep my eyes open for a good car. I also know someone with a few extra NOS pieces when the time comes.

Verne

I know of a 61 Bubble top 409 that could be for sale if the guy can find a nice unrestored 69 Z28.
