It was Zuls too !The ownership history went from Grumpy thru 71...then it was leased to Bruce Larson for Pro Stock...then sold to Rich Zul...When new it had a steel straight bumper front end and as you can see it had RS bumperettes which was changed to an A&A glass RS front end. This car went thru a lot of different looks...I looked at mountains of photo history and it seems every one was a little different !

I have known about this car for some time, and was anxious to see it. Simply awesome. It was neat to be standing next to MG when Grumpy first saw it. In fact, the picture I posted of MG and Grumpy with the car was moments after Grumpy had viewed the car for the first time since being restored.

As per the car being at SCR8, Mike and I have visited aboutt his and hopefully he will bring it along with his Yenko Chevelle. Even not set up to race, it would be neat to have it at the track, maybe at the tree next to another '70 pro-stocker.

I'm curious about the appearance of the R/S "Urathane" Nose. As the Original Pieces are quite heavy to be used on a race car.....and the "nose" on the white car appears other than Original, could someone comment on what is being used for the nose piece on Grumpy's Toy resto...........

Was car delivered new w/RS bumpers and "conventional" parking lights as depicted in early pics? If so, probably not many showed up that way. Cool car.

I think the front was glass as you see pics of the spoiler molded to the front. The RS nose was cast into front end also and appears smaller than the real nose. Those things are really heavy. There is a picture of Strickler,at Indy '70 cutting the front spoiler off the car with a hacksaw because Grump told him "Remove that Damn field plow and the car will go a tenth quicker." The picture is in Larry Davis' new book "Quarter Mile Muscle" which is really excellent. One question I always had about Grump's '69 is: Were the louvers on the quarters filled? If you look at pics of the car the Lakewood decal is placed over where the louvers should be with no outline of louvers showing.

Hey guys...Am i reading the same thread as you? I think Belair explained all these questions in his above post... the car had a non RS front end originally, and was replaced with lightweight 'glass nose, not a heavy urethane one. It went through many changes, looks and drivers over the years, as documented in photos, ads, etc...but the first driver (and coolest one) was the Grump.

Yeah Bob, I also thought Zul wound up with William Tyler's car. Makes you wonder what the Grump meant....

ZUL also ran the Motion Ribbon car prior to it getting shipped to some island . Grump might have been thinking of that car, which I can tell you Mike G's car IS NOT THE MOTION car!!!!!

I thought the ribbon car was driven by Dennis Ferrra and later turned into the 74 body style?
Paint scheme went ribbon, yellow then red white and blue?
I have a CC that shows Ferra still runing the car in 1975 in comp eliminator or some similar "lower" class.
