Cool thread Brings back a lot of memories...first car in 1978 - '70 Chevelle 300 Deluxe which quickly became an SS We didn't call them clones or tribute cars or anything else back then - they were "fake" or "phoney" SS cars and people weren't ashamed to admit that because few teenagers knew the difference or cared for that matter. We wanted the SS look and just bought the parts from GM Second car was a '67 Camaro Pace Car. Too bad I didn't know that at the time - it was just a nice white and blue vert! Third was a '69 L78 Chevelle. I was in grade 13 (Canada) and remember watching the gas gauge fall as I sat in front of my girlfriend's place saying "goodnight" Only kept that one for a month - it's pretty tough to go parking in the Winter in Canada without the heater running

Late 70's. First car was a hand-me-down from my parents that they bought new - 1972 Buick Skylark, 350/350 4 bbl, gold/black vinyl top, gold bucket seats with console. A LOT of High School memories in that car. Sold it to a friend and bought a 1967 Camaro my last year of HS. Been hooked on Camaros since then.

First car was a 56 4 door Chevy that had a beer can size hole in the floor board that we used to eject cans out of and listen to them bounce between the roadway and the floorboard, cool at 15 not so now. Moved to a 63 SS Impala, blew the motor in front of my folks house after getting pissed off at GF and reved her to the limit and dropped the clutch (in storage still today) and then onto a 4 door 66 Chevelle as a winter beater. Kind of liked that old 56 though lots of room inside.
I like all others here passed on cars we would die for today

--------Where I was raised out in farm country in Ohio no one much watched yung-uns too close.I was driving all over the place at 12/13 doing errands for my Dad in a 49 Jeepster flat-head 4.It was his but he gave it back to me on my 40th birthday. He got his revenge on me because he knew I would restore it,and it was nice before I got hold of it at twelve.Somewhere around 14 I bought a 38 Chevy business coupe, and began customizing it right away. That would have been 1960 for those of you counting.Cost a whopping $25.00.Its long gone but the Jeepster is out in the warehouse.........Bill S

First car was a 70 Torino with a 302 2 bbl and dual pipes with 3 ft long glass packs! Had the reputation of being one of the fastest cars on the lot, but I never raced anyone.(does not say much for the cars in the mid 80's) That gave way to my 2nd car and the transport for college, an '84 Z/28. Mine was a '71 Chevelle SS. I spent almost 2 years fixing it up and had it looking real nice. Cranberry Red w/black stripes.. Interior was mint.. Had it done for 3 months and my senior year in HS I flipped the car over 3 times. The only thing that survived was the Engine/tranny and SS grill emblem. '67 Lincoln rust bucket (circa '76). Suicide doors. Snow meats (right one fell early victim to the occasional brake torque - smoke'd pour in from rear shelf and fill the interior for Chi-Town Hustler effect).

Ok, here is what my car looked like when I learned how to drive on it. I was 14 and my brother would take me to the cemetery where he would let me practice. Eventually the Z became my daily driver during my high school years. (Side note: My friend had a 66 HiPo Mustang. He blew up the engine and then got a beautiful 69 Vette Convertible. They looked good parked in the lot together) Years later, upon my return home from school he told me he was going to sell it. I convinced him not to and offered to restore the car back to original in return for co-ownership. The best deal I ever made.

Mossportgreen66 the one who started this thread asked me to post pics of his current beauty. He does have pics of his first cars that he is digging up for me to post.
