Gotta read this the--Sport Compact Car July Issue. From the movie (2 Fast 2Furious) page 91. The author is talking about the Clone Yenko that was in the movie. "For those throwbacks still stuck reading CAR CRAFT 2f2f included some classic Muscle Cars." The transmission is a brutish Muncie 4-speed, the steering is as much by blind luck as it is by a recirculating ball and the solid axle on leaf springs rear suspension is about as supple as a cinder block being slammed into an old Norge freezer" Despite its Prehistoric underpinnings, the Camaro is a blast to drive" The rim of the steering wheel is ludicrously thin, the instrumentation Stupidly laid out and the driver sits so low, it's like looking out of a munitions bunker" But it was fun.!! "The Camaro's handling is just as Lousy as anyone would expect. Modern BFGoodich Radial T/As can only do so much to counter the suspension, which was state of the art in 1897, and that iron lump of an engine puts all the weight in the wrong place" I can't type anymore get the magazine and you must read the article in full. What should we Yenko owners do??--Maybe I'll SELL my (2) Prehsitoric Yenko's!!! Mark

Well, I don't know what we CAN do, but I can tell you what I WON'T do, and that is buy a magazine called "Sport Compact Car"!!!!
Pull one of those "prehistoric Yenkos" and the riceburner of your choice into a parking lot and see which one gets more looks...then for grins, race the 2 cars, and see what "state of the art" gets you. |

Hey WAIT it's my son's Magazine (HONDA LOVER). Forgot the Best line - " 427 cubic inch iron block, cam-in-block, overhead valveV8 making 425HP Despite relying on a Giant Fuel-Leak called a "four barrel carburetor" for induction. Oh my GOD this is magazine is going in Sunday's Trash Pick-Up!! Mark

No wonder Supercars is liquidating his collection and getting into Japanese high performance.

"Giant fuel leak....." Now that is funny! The rest is just plain sad......It takes how much money and 30 + years of tech to run close to these "Old Big Dogs".I haven't found a one ready to step up to my 327 let alone a 427.....Once the revs come up (4000) they slink back in the seat, lower the stereo, and drive away slower than Granny.I can't hear their fart pipe then.... Sounds like this was written after a test drive of several 2f2f movie cars. I didn't read the article, but I would suspect that every car fell short of the driver's expectations. They are only movie cars built more for looks than for actual performance. I bet even the japanese movie cars performance were sub-par for what the visual expectations were.

Unfortunately, the author of that article didn't attribute the term MOVIE CARS to all vehicles concerned, instead he decided to trash a piece of automotive history.THE ONE redeeming factor ,of this so-called article, is that it will make an excellant bird cage liner. The magazine tested all the cars in the movie except the HEMI Challenger. This is how it went: '99 Skyline 14.1--'02 Mitsubishi Evo 15.3--'93 Mazda RX-7 14.6--'00 Honda S2000 13.9--'93 Supra Turbo 14.5 and Guess Who WON??---'69 YENKO CAMARO 13.7 at 106.9 mph....The magazine has an AWESOME picture of the Yenko doing a Smokey Burn-out at the strip. I guess the guy never stood back and saw how goofy the movie itself was. When making movies involving cars, you'd think that they would get advice from people who knew something about cars.
