What is the first manufacturer starting the standard "spªcial" flashing paint color. Chevy with Daytona Yellow-Hugger Orange-Rallye Green etc... or Ford with Grabber color or AMC with Big Bad color or Mopar with plum crazy-panther pink-sublime-etc.. |

Maybe you are just referring to Muscle Cars, but these wild colors really started back in the mid 50's with the Ford Vic's, Tri Five Chevys and even Chrysler got into the act. From a Muscle Car standpoint I guess it started in 1969. Maybe somebody has an idea of an earlier time.

Don, Rallye Green was a 1968 color for Camaro, Daytona Yellow and Hugger Orange appeared in 1969. It looks to me like the "grabber" colors as well as the Mopar "plum crazy" et al did not appear until the 1970 model year. -Sam
