Default Cragar SS chrome plating by Atlas Plating

Got this 15x8 back from Atlas Plating in Houston, Tx. a few days ago. They do good work, I’ve used them before.

No before pic but it wasn’t terrible. While the wheel was there I called n asked how much he’d charge to replate an old rusty N5 Sun Tach cup I had and Alex said send it to him n no charge. Put it in the same shipping box as the wheel.
I appreciated that.

question on the chrome - did they do the center caps as well - look real nice!

also - on orig cragers, at the lug nut area, they are usually a satin finish vs full on chrome and polished. any thoughts on this - can they do that orig finish.

would mine sharing or PM what the price per wheel was?

many thanks....ed

I bought a couple sets of Cragars new in the 70's and it seems like the satin was just a coat of paint. If I remember it scratched fairly easily if a person wasn't careful with the tire iron on the nuts. And yes, we used 4 way irons to install/remove nuts back then. Only shops had air wrenches and cordless tools ?? They were as much a fairy tale as Dick Tracy's shoe phone...

Did they cut the center out for rechroming? I had been told any wider than a 4” rim the centers had to be separated from the rim chromed then welded back together!

The originals had the satin finish in the center your referring too. I never have seen any that were replated that weren’t chromed in the center like this. They chrome all of it. Maybe talk to them and see if they could do that. 🤷
The center cap is a set of Non R NOS ones i bought years ago. Never have asked them about replating center caps.
No they don’t cut them apart.
Eddie, the cost is based on the condition of the wheel. Take some good pictures n call Alex and he’ll give you a quote on the job. I started the Cragar SS endeavor buying a pair of skinnies then the 8 inch reverse. Searched forever to get someone to replate them and finally found Atlas. The cost has gone up quite a bit since I first dealt with them but what isn’t high these days!
You guys have seen pics of my 67 with the Cragars on it haven’t you?
