Wes and I communicated today and there are no outstanding issues. He is satisfied with the information both the CRG and this site has provided.

I think we both made assumptions and once we communicated directly all was resolved. He is going to continue solving the history of the car and as always we collectively are here to assist our members and fellow enthusiasts.

This site is going strong even as we hit our 25th anniversary and appreciate everyones contributions....

I was disappointed to find these chatter marks on the axle tube. I can see parts of the factory stampings but that's it.

Why would someone do that? Hopefully the hidden vin isn't in the same condition.

The only thing I can add to this thread - i once saw a 68 Camaro that had lost or had stolen its VIN plate, and the DMV put a new VIN on the car on the driver door pillar as you have shown, and of course the rivot holes had to be spaced further apart to accommodate the VIN.

Just an observation
