Default 68 Nova column question

I have a 68 Nova 3 speed manual on the column
What do I need to do to convert to a column shift for automatic 3speed(th350-400) trans ( its a bench seat car ,and I think floor shift will look hokey)
and where can I find one???
Thanks
Nick

You need the automatic column. The manual column has 2 gates that shift the gears. The automatic is all in one plane

Dan is correct, you have to find an automatic column, which can be a little difficult as 1968 Nova columns are a one year only due to the ignition on the dash.

That's a good question Tom.

I did find this.

http://www.stevesnovasite.com/forums...p/t-76315.html

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">67-68 Camaro only fit 68 Nova and 69 Camaro will fit up to 72 possibly to 74.The ignition is on the dash in the 68 and older Chevy's and in the column 69 and up.
</div></div>

EDIT...it looks like Firebird will fit too.

68 Camaro and Firebird same as 68 Nova. 69 not same as 68. 67 Camaro is also the same as 68 Nova. Never tried Impala as I always thought they were too long.

69 the key went from the dash to the column..and i may have screwed it up what i was trying to say

68 impala goes in a 68 nova it s just a little different..looking..the impala is longer from the dash to the steering wheel but, it does in a pinch

69 up nova camaro..the 69 impala bolts in..looks right works right etc...ive done many times..in camaros and mostly in novas..first time i tried it, it was a 69 impala column shift tilt into my GFs 69 camaro convert..i had the stuff just laying around on a bench and started measuring and it was so close...in it went
