That practice always seemed deceptive and unscrupulous to me. |

If it really is for sale,I'm guessing Dana didn't take it because the top bid wasn't real money.
They might have been looking for every ones ceiling, and now that they know that, will contact them after the fact to try to sell privately. |

If that is Mecum's car, it raises some serious questions to me on how business is conducted at his auctions. I agree with the previous posts that 450k is way too much money for any special paint 69 Z/28. Lets be honest, if the 450k was real money, there were two fools involved, the bidder and the guy who refused the bid. Dana is no fool, so now you have to ask yourself, what is the entire story behind this no sale???

The ad says the Crossram Intake was stolen from the trunk, how can this be, I have read several GM Documents that say the Crossram system had to be ordered thru the parts dept, GM says they were never sent in the trunk,, a 69Z28 with a crossram goes into a Modified class , not an original class .
Agree the crossram is worth more money, but.

What a bunch of hooey.
It's been on ebay 3 times over the years - just a regular Z with special paint and the dealer modified the stripes. Now repainted. It's a 3.73 axle, btw - dealer changed to 4.10. He tried to order JL8 and dual disc clutch, but was kicked back. The docs I've seen show nothing about ordering the crossram and the factory wouldn't have them anyway. 124379N658513

Kurt is right on the money with his comments. The crossram in the trunk story is fabricated and the JL-8 was added too. I know the original selling dealer and the next time I run into him I will ask him about that car. I have 2 or 3 feature articles on that car and in the first one about 20-25 years ago, it was just a highly optioned regular Z/28 with no crossram and no JL-8.
