Great weather, lots of fun.

Put it on your 2014 calendars now.

The first car in PSMCDR history to get disqualified for going too fast was Julie Penningtons L88 69 Corvette. Her hubby was making a test run after she complained it felt "twitchy" with the added 300 pounds meant to slow the car down. So Terry ran it down the track. He said it felt alright to him..... but he ran 11.492. Oops! Too fast. Terry and Julie knew what would happen if the car ran quicker than 11.50 and they didn't have any problem with getting disqualified. Julie wasn't happy with Terry getting her booted, but she had no problem with the ruling by the PSMCDR and the track itself. The other L88 you saw there (the red one) belonged to Ed Keim. He is friends with Terry and has something (partner?) to do with Terry's car lot. Ed ran an 11.51 Friday morning in REALLY good air. He was at the 1000 foot mark when he let off cause the car was going really fast and he didn't want to get the boot. The rest of the weekend was just Ed playing Mr Bracket Racer trying to keep from breaking out. That saved him since he didn't go quicker than 11.50 all weekend. November 2nd, 2013 will be the F.A.S.T. fall meet at Martin Michigan (US131 Dragway). That event won't have any breakout rule, should have great air, so one might expect the 69 L88 Corvettes and ZL1 69 Camaros to go lots faster than 11.50. May even see some high 10's, but no guarantees of that. Julie's best run was an 11.02 or 11.06 a year ago at a fall meet somewhere near the east coast so anything is possible. Stay tuned.

Oh yah, this weeks meet saw the Corvettes with fully treaded F70x15 tires, no bald tires were used for better traction. Seems the Corvettes can hook up on snot if need be. Julies car even had a 1.70 60 foot short time at this event on normal bias plies, so miracles can and do happen.
