| alternator that has been polished

I have 69Z alt that has been polished back in the day. Id like to use it, but is there anyway to reverse this polish and get back to the orig finished condition? thoughts?

Glass bead will get rid of the shine but will not bring back the "as cast" finish ... The TAZ

Rough sandpaper and a hammer works decent in many situations. Just put the paper over the case with the rough part of the paper facing the case. Lightly tap on the backside of the paper with the hammer until you get the finish you are going for. Then blast it for a more uniform finish. Jason |

im thinking I can get a replacement back case, and maybe try Jason's approach to the front, masking off the part number and date codes etc.

Eddie, Have the case tumbled in the same media that they do aluminum intakes etc. MacNeish comes to mind and there's another guy (west coast I believe) but can't remember his name. Good luck. Paul |
