Default NOS L88 Cam??

I recently pulled a NOS cam out of an engine built in the 80's and never fired. I believe it is a NOS GM L88 cam. The numbers stamped into the end of the cam are 5536. It has the 65-66 groove in the rear cam journal. Can anyone tell me what this cam is with this limited info?

Thanks,

Jason

I would like to know the same thing as I also have the same cam, the one I have also has 5536 but the number below it is E169 and M with the circle around it and also has the rear grooved journal.
This came with a bunch of big block parts that I had purchased from some one back in 1977. This cam came with two other cams, one of them was an nos L88 cam in the original unopened GM tube but this one was not in its original tube.

Interesting. I never considered the fact that the 1 in the 1239M stamp could be an I.

I found a thread on team Camaro that had a thread about this cam. Ill try to find it and post it.

Thanks,

Jason

Part #3925535 casting number #3925536. L-88 camshaft for 1967. Lift .562/.584 duration 354/360. The date code looks like September 23, 1969. The other one looks like May 16, 1969. I know that all the early cams I have had has the Circle M on them. Later ones from the mid 70's to 90's don't have that mark. Is there "RSCL", a "65", and a "CWC" casting marks?

I wanted to clarify that these are indeed GM camshafts.

Thanks for the info. I think I missed your first post since I was posting at the same time.

I will check the cam for the casting marks. Would it be between the lobes?

Thanks,

Jason
