1969 Impala 427-335HP COPO Question ? 2-23-2011

[Old Time Classics]

Question I found a 1969 Impala 2 Door 427-335HP Turbo-Jet
Car is loaded with paper work & all #'s Matching. But I am unclear how to determine how to find out if the car is a real COPO.
Car does have a Broadcast sheet not perfect shape but I think it is legible.
Also has a Protecto plate.
Window sticker may be a reproduction but has LS1AA for engine code.

Is there a spot where I can look to tell if it is a COPO

What makes you think it might be a COPO? I have owned several 69 SS427's and 69 Impala 427's, none were COPOs. If it is a COPO it would likely mean it was a fleet car. Fred Gibb ordered several 69 Impala 427 cars for the AHRA.

No real reason why I think it is a COPO. I just know they did make them & just trying to find out if there was a special code or something that would stand out to identify it one way or the other. I just don't want pass on the deal to buy the car if it was a COPO.

What type of COPO are you referring to? The engine was an RPO, other than being a cool option, there is nothing special(COPO) about it.

There are alot of 335 hp cars built...No big deal here.

MOST of the &quot;rare&quot; COPO's discussed here are of the performance variety, ie 427-425 hp in a Camaro or a Chevelle

not a low horse 427 in an Impala

While cool, they are not really a &quot;performance&quot; car

As stated, nearly ANY car could have a &quot;COPO&quot; attached to it, fleet order, odd color, etc. Even 4 doors could be a &quot;COPO&quot; [img]<<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/smile.gif[/img]

Jim is right and since the 427/425 is still an available RPO option, it would not be considered a COPO except one of the other above reasons. However, none of those would really add any value to the car over and above what it already is.
