I have recently purchased a 65 Impala Wagon factory 396 turbo 400 with A/C and some other options. I would like to talk to anyone that may have info on this year of BB. I have the protect-o-plate and bill of sale and recently talked with the original owner. I am curious about rarity, production numbers etc. I hope I have not intruded on the wrong forum or area for dicussion.

What is the delivery date on the protect o plate ?
The 396 was a mid year introduction. The early 65 big blocks were 409's. Good Luck with your ride, let's see some pictures! |

May 3/65, the car was ordered Feb.21/65 6 days after the release of the new 396. I asked the original owner why a 396 and he said he had to take it because he really wanted the new turbo 400 tranny! No I did not purchase car at BJ but was there to witness all the restoration work done on most of the women in attendace.

I'd be very interested to talk to you about the head markings of various bolts, the PS bracket details, etc., that were all different on the very early 396's versus those later in the year and in 66. Please send me a PM or email me at [email protected] and let me know how to get in touch with you. Thanks! - Jeff
