It is an awesome plane to be sure. Still holds the speed
record!

The SR-71 was actually conceived by Kelly Johnson
in the late 1950's. It is truly amazing that an aircraft
of that vintage still has not been topped. I can only
imagine what it would have been like to work with Kelly
Johnson and the Shunkworks guys back then....

Actually, I was told once that the SR-71 actually flew
much faster than advertised. Love to know what the max.
speed was on that bad-boy!
