What's the story with short and tall spoilers? Was there a changeover date? Could you order either one? Plant specific? Luck of the draw? I always liked the tall until I started hanging around YOU PEOPLE. Not I hate the tall and love the short. |

I remember 70 1/2 was the only year for a short spoiler. Bill |

What's the story with short and tall spoilers? The short 1-pc spoiler was standard in 70 on the Z-28 but also as RPO D80 option on any other Camaro. In April 70, the 3-pc tall spoiler was made available on Z-28 only under COPO 9796 and in, I believe May, the front spoiler was added to the COPO package. In '71, the short spoiler was standard on the Z-28 and the 3-pc with front spoiler was supplied if RPO D80 was ordered. In '72 and thereafter, the short 1-pc spoiler disappeared completely and the tall 3-pc with front spoiler was the only spoiler option. Although I like the front spoiler, it was never supplied in conjunction with the short 1-pc spoiler. Hope this helps.

Is that a fasten seat belt light under the dash pad and is that supposed to be there on a '72?

Yes, the Fasten seat belt light was a mid-72 addition and is appropriate for an 02C built car. A good friend of mine, (that knows a lot more about '72s), told me his early 72Z was built without the fasten seat belt light bezel, but had the under-dash harness with provisions for the light...I believe his is a December or very early January car which would give some clue as to the changeover.
