Dealer Invoice

I found a 69 ss l78 nova missing drive line the person has the dealer invoice states its a 375 hp engine a 500.34 option .My question is if i was to restore back to orginal condition date correct stuff how much does it help the car value some people say 25% of a non numbers matching car.your thoughts on it

You will spend a lot more to go chase the date correct L78 parts and resto costs than the car will be worth upon completion. The paperwork helps, but the expense to do the car right might out weigh the lack of orig drivetrain come selling time. I bought an 69 L78 car w/ no orig drivetrain for $2k (came with a 12 bolt), but everything else was there and untouched, took what I needed for my other L78 Novas and sold the rest

If the "dealer invoice" you speak of is the factory to dealer, computer-generated invoice it is valuable.

If it the hand-typed dealer to buyer invoice it is nearly worthless. A friend who had both Plymouth and Chevy dealerships had cartons full of blank invoice forms.

The guy also has the orginal owners manual its stamp one time with the protecto plate with all the block and trans and rear numbers but the plate is gone i heard the dealership would take them sometimes when the warrenty was up.Is this good docs

I disagree strongly with your belief regarding dealer to customer invoices. Dealer to customer invoices noting the original customers name, address, trade in vehicle and monthly payment, etc. are quite valuable. Especially if it is from a dealership that is no longer in business and or a supercar dealership ( ie, Fred Gibb, Berger, Mo Carter, etc ). Definately adds to a cars history and definately adds to a sellers ability to market the car. Additionally, the original buyer/owner can be located from the information on the dealer invoice.

The orginal owner is still alive and living at the same adress thats on the invoice .dealership closed down.just wondering if its worth puting back 375 hp 373 m22 car drive line gone raced since new

Uncle Stevie, i think he was referring to the fraud element with dealer generated invoices. I agree with you though if the doc is real, it provides an initial ownership trail a shippers rail sheet obviously cannot. You can get everything from real addressograph blank templates, to real GM embossed dymo tape and patina docs.. owner history has never been more critical.

a 69 M22 car L78 Nova is pretty rare, think they only did about 600 or so of those

Brent, the $500.34 L-78 option sounds like a 1968 figure. I think the 1969's were $316.00. Just a thought. Keep us posted if its a 68 or 69.

Within the last 3 months I have seen 4 dealer "invoices" known to be fakes. Way too easy to do.
