Default IROC to liquidate with auction in New Jersey

TINTON FALLS, N.J. -- The International Race of Champions officials announced Tuesday the all-star auto racing series will liquidate all tools, equipment, race cars and memorabilia in a two-day public auction March 7-8 at IROC headquarters in Tinton Falls, N.J.

The IROC series has been dormant since the conclusion of the 2006 season due to lack of sponsorship.

I always thought it would be great to use that series as a "Seniors" series. The best way to get the diehard/old-school fans back would be to bring back their heros on a limited basis with no equipment investment on the part of the drivers.

Sorry to disagree. But anybody who thinks one driver created all the excitement must never have been involved in any motorsports, or watches many races.

It has not been the same, and no one driver has stepped up to the plate with E's ferocity, commitment and determination -
but stand at the fence when 43 pass by at full throttle, or watch 10/15 cars battle fender to fender at close to 200 mph -
if your not excited - your dead!

NASCAR is not the same anymore IMO, Daytona 500 was BORING and like every other restrictor place, the whole race was the last 10 laps. No individuality anymore, COT and all that, they can keep it. Did hear a rumor of bringing back some incarnation of a Trans Am series with the new Challenger, Camaro and Mustang, might make things interesting.?

I always see vintage SCCA style racing...... Why not bring some vintage NASCAR racing out and about! I would love to see 64 Galaxies and mid 60's mopars battling it out on the tracks of today!

This isn't what this thread is about but...you know what I hate about nascar? Two things..One..it's turned into wrestling..all this 'for the cameras' fighting...crashing in the pits crap...what jerks...till some pit guy gets run over by somebody....and two

all the cars look the same, I can't tell a Ford from a Chevy from a Toyota...did I just say Toyota??

Wow .. I guess I should go since I have one of the first IROC cars from 1973/74 . May be some memoribilia or photos or who knows what that would be cool to have. Items from
the first year are very scarce . I am fortunate to have the orginal Statement of Orgin sigbned in two places br Roger Penske .. one signed on behalf of Volkswagen of America and the other on behalf of Penke Productions.
