Default Anti diesel solenoid-L78s

I have a question about the anti-diesel solenoid that came on L78s. Was this on all of them? I have a heavy red wire in my car and it is covered with the same stuff that the temp gauge wire is covered in. I am pretty sure that is what it is for.; Next question, does anyone have one with the brackets and intake bolts?

Thanks
Roy

It was on the turbo 400 cars but not on the 4 speeds. The later GM harness came with that extra wire.

I have one that came off of a 71 Z/28 in my garage somewhere, are they the same? I saw it about 2 months ago while I was looking for some other parts. I will sell it at a fair price if it will work.

I wasn't aware of the Anti-dieseling solenoid useage in 1971?
Could you mean the unique 1971 one piece transmission controlled spark advance solenoid & throttle pot?
They incorporated these two devices into one single unit in 1971,then made them seperate again in 1972,after field results showed the two incompatible.

This anti-diesel solenoid was not on all L/78 cars. I have
seen early cars without them. The solenoid & bracket are
available from Heartbeatcity ( look on epay ). I don't
know for sure if there was a specific date this unit was
phased-in. The original solenoid part number is all but
impossible to find. Big bucks when they pop-up.

I had looked into this issue several years ago as I was
working on an L/78 THM400 combination for an early build
'69 Camaro. Since the original wiring harness was gone,
I could not verify the existance of the solenoid on this
car. I ended up buying the complete setup anyway just in
case I needed it. Since I never learned the date or
specific reasons this solenoid was installed, I put it on
the back burner.

Nuch
