Technically, wouldn't a L89 CE block just be a generic L78 block.? Was there a certain p/n for a L89 replacement (CE) block.?

A #512 block is a copo 427/425 hp block,an L88 427/430 hp block,a 427/435 hp tri power block,and even an ls6 454/450 hp block. So a CE 512 block is all the above i guess,depending on what heads,cam,etc are used.There are no specific part #s to any block GM used as far as specific applications with the exception of the #052 ZL1,
