Here's John's photo. I tried to retain as much fidelity, but lost a tad. From what I can see on the far lane car (it is actually NOT Mr. Smiley

) it is an AHRA and NHRA 1970 Record Holder running in C/MP class. On the hood scoop it says "xxx Jones" (can't read the 1st name). Looks like your friend's competition had a decent hole shot.
